In July of 2004, I assembled a rag-tag group of adventures on a small island off the coast of Salvador (Bahia) to start a gift-economy restaurant and hostel.The project was called O Bigode (The Moustache) in honor of that ubiquitous Brazilian symbol.This book, Cookign Com Bigode, is based on the recipes that were developed and served from the kitchen that post-capitalist experiment in community living.Though I wrote the words down, the book owes a debt to the members of O Bigode collective (perhaps 30 in number), the people of Aratuba (perhaps 1000 in number), and the AMAZON, which had been guiding us all along.
